Mr.S. Jeyanandamoorthy, Batticaloa district Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian has brought to the notice of Sri Lanka's President Ms Chandrika Kumaratunge that cadres of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), a key member of the coalition government, assisted by Sri Lanka security forces, have been helping Sinhala fishermen from other districts to move to Kalkuda, an area which is completely destroyed by the tsunami tidal wave, sources said.
"The Sinhala fishermen have already begun to catch fish whereas the Tamil fishermen who have been traditionally engaged in fishing industry in this area for many generations are still languishing in refugee camps having lost their fishing gear and boats, and unable to make a living," said Mr.Jeyanandamoorthy in his letter to Ms Kumaratunge. "I understand that the security forces are giving protection and other means for fishing for these outsiders. The fishermen of this area fear that their future would turn up into a big question mark of the new intruders. I also understand that one of the political parties of the coalition government which stands against the peace process of the government, is behind this activitiy,"said Mr.Jeyanandamoorthy in his letter. Mr.Jeyanandamoorthy added, "I need not to emphasise
here what would be the outcome of such undesirable activities. I fervently hope that you would take immediate action to put an end to this very serious problem."
