Current LTTE mission to Europe is to communicate to the international community ground realities of the humanitarian crisis created by the tsunami and to expose the lack of progress towards establishing a Joint Mechanism to undertake post-tsunami reconstruction in an equitable manner, Head of LTTE Political Wing, S.P.Thamilchelvan, told the Mr.Eoin Ryan, Member of European Parliament (MEP) and Committee on Economic & Monetary Affairs, Committee on Development when the LTTE delegation met him in the Irish Parliamentary complex Saturday, LTTE sources said.
Mr. Ryan expressed hope that post tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction needs would encourage warring parties to work together and the resulting building of mutual confidence would lead to recommencement of the stalled peace process. Mr.Thamilchelvan told Mr Ryan that structuring an effective mechanism for equitable distribution of international aid would be the right step in demonstrating Sri Lanka government's goodwill and sincerity in resolving the Tamil National question. Mr.Thamilchelvan also requested Mr Ryan to send a fact finding mission to the affected Tamil regions and to work with the Sri Lanka government to restore normalcy to a people battered by war.
