Nedunkerni schools receive free Solar Lighting Systems

The Economic Consultancy House (TECH), a Sri Lanka Government registered NGO working exclusively in the NorthEast, provided eight schools without electricity in Nedunkerni region, Photo Voltaic (PV) lighting systems using funding from its US branch at an event held at Nedunkerni Maha Vidyalayam Monday, sources in Vanni said.
Head of LTTE Political Section for Nedunkerni region, Mr Indran, presided the event. LTTE' Vavuniya district Political Head, Mr Gnanavel, Vavuniya district Head of Finances, Mr Kugan, Accountant at TECH, Mr S Nesan, TECH co-ordinator for Kilinochchi district, S Vijendra, TECH co-cordinator for Mullaitivu district, V Vimalendran, President of Nedunkerni Traders Association, and Head of LTTE Vavuniya district Women's Political Wing awarded the units to officals of the schools. "The Solar Lighting Units will help the evening classes at these schools and will assist in the long term educational development of children in the impoverished areas. We urge the officials to use the units to extend class times into evenings and to inform the TECH officials for assistance if units malfunction," M Sunderamoorthy, director of TECH, said speaking at the event.
