Jaffna journalists protest over killing of Sivaram[TamilNet, Saturday, 30 April 2005, 16:41 GMT]A large number of civilians and journalists protested in Jaffna town, Saturday morning, demanding the Government of Sri Lanka to ensure safety to Tamil media persons. Jaffna District Journalists Association (JDJA) organized the protest, condemning the brutal killing of Mr.D.Sivaram, senior journalist, in the high security zone in Colombo. Jaffna district Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians Mr.M.K.Sivajilingam, Mr.M.K.Eelaventhan, Mr.Mavai Senathirajah and Ms Padmini Sithamparanathan participated in the protest. Representatives of the JDJA handed over a memorandum to Mr.M.K.Sivajilingam to be sent to the President Ms Chandrika Kumaratunge.
