PLOTE military leader promises retaliation

Some evil force who does not wish the unity among the Tamil groups was behind the attack in which 5 PLOTE members were killed, said Mr. Manikathasan, PLOTEs second in command and the group's military wing leader, speaking at the funeral of the PLOTE members in Vavuniya, yesterday.

"We will find out who was behind this attack and teach them a lesson" Mr. Manikathasan proclaimed.

The attack was aimed at shattering the unity among the Tamil groups, he said further.

Five PLOTE members including its local military wing leader for the Vavuniya district were killed in a claymore mine attack last Tuesday.

Meanwhile another PLOTE member, identified as Karthik (Masilamani Jeevathas, 37, Aasikkulam, Vavuniya) who sustained injuries in Tuesday's attack died yesterday at the Anuradhapura hospital, said PLOTE sources in Vavuniya.
