Vadamaradchy rural schools receive assistance

The Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO), a Sri Lanka Government registered NGO working mainly in NorthEast, donated Rs 400,000 to buy computing equipment for a school in Thumpalai, Point Pedro and gave another Rs 1200,000 to build a pre-school in the coastal town of Katkovalam located 5km east of Point Pedro, TRO officials said.
Representative of German TRO, Mr Shanmugaratnam, presented a cheque for Rs 4 lakhs to Saivapragasa Vidyasalai Deputy Principal Mr Pushparajah towards buying computing equipment for the school in an event held at the school 10 am Monday. Later, a foundation laying ceremony for a pre-school in Katkovalam was held Monday noon. Co-ordinator for tsnumi rehabilitation, Mr Balaiah, several social workers and members of the public attended the event. Mr Shanmugaratnam presented a cheque for Rs 12lakhs to Jaffna District Director for TRO, Mr Jeyaraj, towards the cost of building and maintaining the pre-school, sources said.
