LTTE, Muslims meet in Karadiyanaaru

Officials of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) met with representatives from Kalkudah Muslim community at the Karadiyanaru Maha Vidyalayam, Chenkalady from 10 AM to 12 PM Thursday, sources
from Batticaloa said. Discussions centered around land issues concerning muslim settlers in Oddamavady and Kalkuddah, according to
officials attending the meeting.
 Mr. Praba, LTTE's Deputy Commander of Batticaloa-Amparai, Mr. Daya Mohan, Deputy Head of Batticaloa-Amparai Political Division of the LTTE, Mr. Uliyan, In-charge of LTTE Political Affairs in Kudumpimalai represented the LTTE delegation. Oddamavady Muslim Society President, Mr. A.M.Aliyar Hajjiar and other Civil society representatives of the Muslim community represented
the Muslim delegation. Members of several Tamil civil society groups also attended the
discussions. LTTE reprentatives said that they will make arrangements for
Muslim farmers to cultivate in agriculture in the lands
owned by Muslims in LTTE held territories. Muslim representatives said they agreed to cooperate fully in
identifying and resolving matters regarding muslim settlers who have forcibly taken the land and properties of Tamil people. "Discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere
and both sides are keenly aware the urgent need resolve
issues early before they develop into serious
disputes that can affect Tamil-Muslim relations," Mr. Daya Mohan said
after the discussions were over.
