German Foundation assists Veloor pre-school building project

Juergen Wahn Stiftung (JWS), a German Foundation, is funding the construction of a new two-storied building for the Veloor pre-school located in Nilaveli, a predominantly Tamil village, north of Trincomalee, sources said. JWS Wednesday donated a tractor and a trailer costing about one million rupees to the Nilaveli Tamil Maha Vidiyalayam School Development Society and Veloor Pre-School Development Society, sources said.

The income derived from the use of the tractor and trailer will be earmarked for use in school development activities in Nilaveli area and for the maintenance of Veloor pre-school, sources said.

On behalf of JWS, Mr.S.Kumaraguru and Mr.C.Suntharamoorthy handed over the tractor and trailer to the Principal of the Nilaveli Tamil Maha Vidyalayam, Mr.V.Mathialagan, at an event held Wednesday in Nilaveli.

Mr.K.Ratnasingham, Secretary of the RDS also participated.

The two-storied building for Veloor pre-school is scheduled to be opened in August this year, sources said.

Buildings of the Veloor Pre-School were washed away by tsunami deadly waves last year.
