Second fasting campaign held in Kaithady

Second token fasting campaign, organized by the Thenmaradchchi Traders' Association, demanding the immediate establishment of the joint mechanism to rehabilitate and reconstruct the tsunami destroyed coastal areas in the northeast province, was held at Kaithady junction in Thenmaradchchi division in Jaffna district Thursday, sources said.

Jaffna district parliamentarian Ms Padmini Sithamparanathan and several leading civil activists participated in the fasting which commenced around 9.30 a.m. and concluded at about 12.30 afternoon, sources said.

Thenmaradchchi Traders' Organization organized the event.

The first token fasting was held in Chavakachcheri town Wednesday and the third is to be held in Kodikamam junction Friday, sources said
