Tamil civilian shot dead in Muttur

Mr. Sithiravel Sathiyanathan, 33, a Tamil civilian and a resident of Sampoor in Muttur east was shot dead by an unidentified gunman Tuesday afternoon around 12.30 in the heart of Muttur town near a petrol station, Police said.

The victim was travelling in a motorbike with another Tamil civilian from Sampoor to Muttur to buy provisions when he was killed, Muttur Police said.

The alleged assassin wore a mask when he shot the victim, civil sources in Muttur said.

The body was handed over to the Muttur district hospital. Muttur Police immediately began investigation into the killing, sources said.
