Colombo names P-TOMS high level representative

Constitution Affairs Minister D.E.W.Gunasekara has been appointed as Sri Lanka Government's representative to the High Level Committee of the Post Tsunami Operational Management Structure (P-TOMS), said Cabinet spokesperson Nimal Siripala De Silva at a post Cabinet press briefing in Colombo Thursday. Meanwhile,
the Supreme Court is scheduled to rule on Friday on the validity of the P-TOMS after it was challeneged in Courts by the JVP and the JHU.
The cabinet spokesman also said consultations were underway to find members for the regional committee and a decision on this would be made soon. There are three members in the High level committee including an LTTE representative and a Muslim representative. Mr.De Silva said the Government has given a firm undertaking to provide security to LTTE caders but cannot agree with some of the modalities suggested by the LTTE for this purpose. He also said the Government is committed to the peace process and would not undermine it.
