Bank helps Kilinochchi traders restart destroyed businesses

Social and Economic Development Bank (SEDB) located in Kilinochchi town gave owners of eleven businesses which were destroyed by fire on 18 August loans of Rs 25,000 each on long term concessionary terms to rebuild their businesses, Friday 3 p.m. in an event held in Kilinochchi market premises.

Kilinochchi district Special Commissioner, Pon. Nithianthan, speaking at the event said, "We appreciate the gesture of the bank in offering the loan to meet the urgent need of the traders. The legal process to determine compensation will take time and this would have placed a heavy burden on the families of the traders." Head of Kilinochchi Traders Union, Mr Ratnamani presided the event. Director of SEDB Mr P Sriskandarajah and Secretary of Kilinochchi National Renaissance Movement Mr Pasupathy spoke at the gathering. Special guests, Kilinochchi district LTTE head of political wing Mr Sivanath, SEDB Commissioner K Prabhakaran, Mr Sivapalan from Kilinochchi district Renaissance Movement presented the loan documents to the affected traders.
