JHU to announce candidate after call for nominations

Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), the Sinhala extremist all Buddhist monks party, at a Worship meeting held a the Viharamaha Devi Park Saturday evening, said that they will announce their Sri Lanka presidential candidate after the election date is announced and the nominations are called by the election commissioner, political sources in Colombo said.

Thousands of party supporters and Buddhist monks attended the meeting. Leading JHU Parliamentarian monks, Rev. Athuriliye Rathana thera, Dr.Rev. Ellawala Medananda thera , Rev. Omalpay Sobitha thera attended meeting. A few of the ten JHU parliamentarians did not attend the meeting. Even though local newspapers quoting JHU sources said that JHU will be officially announcing its presidential candidate Saturday evening, the announcement did not happen.
