SLA behind group fights in Jaffna, charges Ilamparithi
[TamilNet, Monday, 12 September 2005, 16:53 GMT]
Mr.C.Ilamparithi, Jaffna district political head of the Liberation Tigers
of Tamil Eelam
(LTTE), Monday charged that the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and its intelligence
operatives are behind the group clashes, which are on the increase in recent weeks in the Jaffna district. He said this in an interview with Tamilnet
from the new district political office of LTTE now located in
the LTTE controlled Pallai division.
LTTE Jaffna district political office has been shifted to Pallai from
Kokuvil in the government controlled area following the decision of the
LTTE leadership to relocate its political cadres from the
government-controlled areas, sources said "SLA and its intelligence wing are working hard to create dissension among
Tamil people to destroy their unity. We have found that some Tamil groups
involved in group-fighting had used grenades supplied by intelligence
operatives," Mr.Ilamparithi said. "We appeal to our people not to encourage these saboteurs but to be
vigilant in preserving the unity and to take forward our freedom struggle,"
said Mr.Ilamparithi. Till congenial atmosphere is created in the government controlled areas
there is little possibility for the resumption of political activities by LTTE
political cadres, said Ilamparithi.
