HRC officials meet LTTE cadre in KKS Police Station

Mr.Rohitha Priyatharsana, Jaffna regional co-ordinator of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) with his investigating officer Mr. T.Surendrarajah Monday met with Mr.Ramasamy Swendran (28) alias Manalan, a LTTE cadre from Pallai, who was arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) within the Palaly high security zone in the Jaffna district and later handed over to the Kankesanthurai (KKS) Police, sources said.

HRCSL arranged a meeting with LTTE cadre following the intimation by the KKS Police that he is being detained in the KKS police station under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

Meanwhile, Mallakam Magistrate Mr.Sarojini Ilankovan ordered remand in Jaffna prison for two Sea Tigers who were taken into custody by the SLN when they were allegedly traveling in the Point Pedro sea, legal sources said.
