Grenade lobbed at SLA sentry, one soldier injured

An unidentified bicycle-riding man lobbed a grenade into a Sri Lanka Army sentry and road-block, police said. The incident took place at Mankerny in Valaichenai Monday around 9:30 p.m. An SLA soldier sustained serious wounds and was rushed to the Polannarwa Hospital.

The wonded SLA soldier was identified as Mr Saman Priya Sananayake, 32.

The sentry is located on Valaichenai - Vaharai main road.

Four SLA soldiers were on duty while the bicycle riding attacker lobbed a grenade into the road block in Mankerny 42 km north of Batticaloa.
