SLA Lance Corporal reported missing in Eravur

A Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Lance Corporal was missing from his sentry post at Kiran in Eruvur since Monday, October 10, police said. Lance Corporal S. M. Miltan, 28, was attached to Kumburumoolai SLA camp located in Valaichenai in Batticaloa district. Two Tamil civilians were arrested on Friday for inquiries, Police said.

The Lance Corporal had a T-56 rifle and several handgrenades in his posession when he disappeared.

Eravur Police suspected that he might have been abducted from his sentry post by unidentified attackers.

A 27-years-old man, Mr. Krishnapillai Uthayarajah and a girl from Kiran have been arrested for inquiries on Friday, police further said. The name of the girl is not yet available.

Eravur Police is conducting investigations into the incident.
