Two Tamils shot dead in Kiran in Batticaloa

Unidentified gunmen who entered a house in Kiran in Batticaloa district Monday night abducted two men at gunpoint, shot and killed them 500 meters away from the house, police said.

The victims, Mr. Thambirasa Thambymuthu,29, a father of two children, from Eravur and Mr. Chandran Kandasamy, 22, were taken away by the gunmen who wanted to "interrogate" them around 9:30 p.m. Monday, civilian sources said.

The incident took place near Parankiarmadu school, 2 km from Kiran.

Kiran is located 25 km north of Batticaloa town.

Valaichenai police is conducting investigations into the killings.
