Indian Executive shot dead in Colombo

Mr Atmakuru Prasad, 25, from Hydrabad in Andhra Province in India was shot dead by unknown gunmen at 9.30 p.m. Wednesday near Alfred Place in Dehiwela Colombo, sources said. Mr Prashad was returning to his house after finishing his dinner at a Galle Road hotel when he was shot.
Mr Prasad was rushed to the Kalubowila Hospital and then transferred to Colombo National Hospital where he died at 11.30 p.m., medical sources said. Mr Prasad was a Technical Executive officer, Cable Unit, at a private Mobile Telephone company in Colpetty, Colombo and lived alone in No.41 annex in Alfred Place rented from a Sinhalese owner. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) at Mount Lavania Police Mr K Arasaratnam said motives for the killing are not clear and that the Police is conducting investigations.
