Two SLA soldiers killed, one wounded in Claymore attack in Thenmaradchi

Two Sri Lanka Army soldiers were killed and one soldier sustained serious wounds in a Claymore explosion that took place in Sarasalai, 4 km northeast of Chavakachcheri in Thenmardchi, Jaffna district, around 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Police said. The Claymore attack was reported after two civilian dead bodies were recovered Tuesday morning in Thenmaradchi.
The tractor, in which the three soldiers were riding, was hit by a Claymore mine that was fixed at Sarasalai on Kanakanpuliyady - Point Pedro road, Police sources added. Tuesday morning, two dead bodies of civilians, Sithampari Kanesharatnam, 39, and Visuwar Krishnar, 58, who lived near Kovilarkandy Amman Temple, were recovered in a bylane near Kaithady bridge close to the A9 main road. Eyewitnesses in their statment to legal authorities have told that they had seen the victims being interrogated by Sri Lanka Army soldiers Monday evening, legal sources said.
