Balasingham arrives in Kilinochchi

The Chief Negotiator and Political Strategist of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Mr. Anton Balasingham, arrived in Kilinochchi Monday morning around 9:00 in a Sri Lankan Air Force Helicopter. Mr. Balasingham will hold consultations with the leader of the Liberation Tigers, Mr. V. Pirapaharan, Monday, regarding the current state of the peace process. Mr. Balasingham, who will assist the LTTE leader during the forthcoming meeting with the Norwegian Minister of International Development, Mr. Erik Solheim, is expected to hold a press conference on Wednesday, LTTE officials said.

Mr. Balasingham was received by Mr. S. P Thamilchelvan, head of the LTTE’s political division, Col. Soosai, Commander of the Sea Tigers, Mr. B. Nadesan, Head of Tamileelam Police, senior members Mr. K. V. Balakumaran, Mr. V. Ilankumaran, other senior officials and commanders of the Tigers . LTTE's chief negotiator is expected to hold a press conference following the meeting between the LTTE leadership and Mr. Erik Solheim, the Norwegian Minister in charge of the Peace Process in Sri Lanka. Mr. Balasingham was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Adele Balasingham. Two Norwegian Embassy officials facilitated Balasingham's traveling on the SLAF Helicopter from Colombo to Kilinochchi.
