Muttur Co-operative officer shot dead

Mr.Ramalingam Suntheralingam, 54, a board member in Muttur Co-operative Society, was shot dead Tuesday morning around 7.30 a.m. in the premises of his house in Muttur town by unidentified gunman. The house is located along the Methodist Church Road between the Muttur police station and a Sri Lanka Army (SLA) camp, sources said.
The lone gunman had entered the premises of the deceased house, fired at him at close range and fled the scene. The Muttur police rushed to the site and began investigation into the incident, sources said. Mr Suntharalingam's wife is a Grama Sevaka (GS). Muttur Co-operative staff expressed shocked at the killling and said they are not aware of any activities by Mr Suntheralingam that would have made him target by any of the groups that are engaged in a killing spree.
