ILO funds computer center in Mannar

International Labor Organization (ILO) funded computer training center for Vellankulam area in Mannar district which will be adminstered by the NGO the Economic Consultancy House (TECH) was declared open on 25 January at 10 a.m.
The center provides timely opportunity for the Vellankulam residents for training in basic computer skills. "Computer technology has advanced rapidly and having computer skills opens up wide employment opportunities. Residents here should endeavour to make use of the facilities and should aspire to become independent wage earners," said TECH official Jeyakumar speaking at the event. At the start of the opening ceremony, Vellankulam Head of LTTE Political Section, Mr Gunaras, lit the ceremonial lamp, and Mannar district Director of Youth Development Organization, Mr Kanjanan, hoisted the Tamil eelam flag. ILO's External Affairs Officer, Mr Pathmathanes cut the ribbon and TECH's Planning Director, Muralitharan, unveiled the name plate. ILO supported the project with a Rs. 659K grant, TECH officials said.
