Ministry orders additional security to Power plants

Sri Lanka's Power and Energy Ministry has issued a warning that the security of all power generating plants should be strengthened immediately, and to consider the surrounding areas of these plants as high security zones, ministry sources said.

The Ministry has instructed the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) officials to take immediate steps to provide security with the assistance of State armed forces and the police, sources said.

The ministry has appealed to the public to co-operate with the authorities refraining from filming and taking photographs of the power generating plants, sources said.
