FAO provides assistance to Muttur East families

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) provided livelihood assistance to forty seven families affected by the two decades of war in Nallur, a village located in the Liberation Tigers held territory in the Muttur east in Trincomalee district, civil society sources said. Under a self-generating income project in collaboration with a local partner organization, families received livestock for home breeding, sources said.
Seven families were given cattle, each worth about Rs 20K, of good breed. Forty families were given goats, each costing about Rs 5K. Mr.S.Elilan, LTTE Trincomalee district political head, Mr.Mangalesh, Trincomalee district head of the Thamileelam Economic Development Board and Mr.Thiruchittampalam of FAO participated in the handing over event, sources said.
