Ex-EPDP supporter shot dead in Kayts

A former Vice President of the Kayts Pradesiya Sabah (PS) during the period when Kayts first came under the control of Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) was shot dead by unknown gunmen Thambatti area Sunday night, source from Kayts said. Nagamuttu Tharmarajah, 71, was appointed to the Kayts PS by the Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) and a well known supporter of the EPDP, sourced added.

The body of was recovered in front of Thambatti amman temple Monday morning, according to local residents.

Following the escalation of killings in Kayts, youths from Kayts are being sent by their parents to Jaffna for safety, civil society officials said.
