Grenade attack near SLA brigade head quarters in Batticaloa

Unidentified attackers lobbed a grenade at a checkpost located inside the high security area of the Batticaloa 22-3 Brigade head quaters Sunday around 2:00 a.m., Batticaloa Police said. An SLA soldier was wounded in the attack.

The wounded soldier, G.B.S. Alahakon, 38, was rushed to Batticaloa hospital.

The checkpost was located in front of the Batticaloa post office.

A cordon and search operation was launched following the attack. No one was arrested.
