TRO opens Pubic Hall in Mallavi, distributes ADB loans

Mr. S. Gajendran, Pandiyankulam Village Coordinator presided over the opening ceremony of the newly constructed Public hall built by Tamils Rehabilitation Organisation, at Thirunagar in the Malavi region in Mullaitivu district, held Wednesday around 10.30 a.m, said sources from Vanni.
TRO officials distributed Asian Development Bank (ADB) fundedloans to cultivators and cattle farmers of the area, added the sources. The ceremony began with the lighting of the Common Flame, the ceremonial lamp and the hoisting of the National flag. Thunukai Assistant Government Agent (AGA) Mr. N. Nanthakumar unveiled the name board of the Public Hall and Pandiyankulam AGA Mr. M. Jega ceremonially opened the main hall. Mr. Y. Gopi, NECORD Mullaitivu coordinator opened the Village Officer's Office and the Health Hall was opened by Mr. Kandeepan, District Technical officer and Mr. Sudar, Tamils' Rehabilitation Organisation Planning
Director, said sources. 26 lowland farmers received rupees 15,000 each while 20
cultivators were issued rupees 10,000 each, and 6 cattle farmers got 20,000 rupees per head, as loans amounting to a total of 710,000 rupees. Pandiyankulam Thunukai Development coordinator Mr. S. Sukumar, Rural Development Society president Mr. Pooranam Sekar, Pandiyankulam political officer Mr. Paramananthan, Pandiyankulam Thunukai Regional Director of Education Mr. S. Amirthanathan, social activists and members of the public participated in the function.
