Four students arrested

Four students from Ambalanthurai Kalaimagal Viththiyalayam who were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) while they were working in the fields at Thaandamalai, 30 km southwest of Batticaloa on June 29, are to be produced in court today, said sources in Batticaloa.
They were arrested when the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) launched an operation in the Kokkadicholai area. The four boys were arrested by the STF from the Pulukunavi camp and handed over to the Mahaoya police who held them in remand in Dehiathakandiya, as no one offered to pay their bail, said sources. These facts came to light through R. Manokaran, head of the Kalmunai branch of the Human Rights Commission. The boys are, T. Chidambarapillai (20), V. Thavarajah (18), S. Kuverajah (20) and C. Mahendran (17), the sources added.
