Members of Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) Monday morning after visiting the site where the bodies were said to be lying, said that they could not locate any bodies. Hundreds of local residents are still gathered at the Seerani Kelakkai temple in Manthuvil East to find out the fate of eight youths who disappeared Sunday morning, sources said.
Members of the SLMM had first came to the site of the temple Monday morning. Local residents there have informed the members of the SLMM the details of the site where the bodies had been allegedly seen, sources said. Sources said, that local residents, for safety insisted that a few of them accompany the SLMM to the site. But SLMM was prepared to take only one of the villagers, local resident said. Members of the SLMM had then visited the site of the bodies on their own. No Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops were seen at the Temple premises, local residents said. Tension prevails in the temple site, sources said.
