Senior US Official visits Sri Lanka

U.S. State Department's Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs, Mr. Donald Camp, is currently on a two-day visit to Sri Lanka, May 15 and 16, 2006, a press release issued by the US Embassy in Colombo Monday said.
Full text of the press release issued on Monday by the US Embassy in Sri Lanka follows: COLOMBO, May 15, 2006- The U.S. State Department's Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs, Mr. Donald Camp, is currently on a two-day visit to Sri Lanka, May 15 and 16, 2006. Mr. Camp will meet with Sri Lankan government officials, political party representatives and businessmen to discuss the current political and economic climate in the country, as well as review the state of bilateral relations. His visit comes in the context of efforts by the U.S., as part of the Tokyo Donors Co-Chairs group, to encourage a resumption of talks in Geneva at the earliest possible date.
