The remains of Sea Tigers laid to rest in Vanni Martyrs Homes

"The Thalayady sea battle in which four of our Sea Tigers sacrificed their lives is of great significance at a time when our people are being blatantly victimised in an undeclared war by the Sri Lanka Government (GoSL) armed forces and the paramilitaries. Though the loss of these four able Sea Tigers cause us deep grief, the Thalayady sea battle is crucial as an open declaration of the determination of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in asserting our sovereign rights to seas which had been recaptured at the cost of the lives of thousands of Tigers," said K. V. Balakumaran, a prominent senior member of the LTTE, Sunday evening in Puthukudirrupu.

The remains of the Sea Tiger, Lt. Col. Kaviyalaki, who was also killed in Thalayady Sea battle was laid to rest at Theravil Martyrs Resting Home in Udayarkadu Puthukudirrupu on Sunday.

Meanwhile the remains of Lt. Col. Anpu, Lt. Col. Sanchana were laid to rest at Mulliyawalai Martyrs Resting Home on the same day same time, sources said.

A large number of people along with LTTE officials and cadres paid their last respects at the two separately conducted rites accompanied by full military salute of honour, added the sources.

"We have once again said to the world that our sea belongs to no one but us. Our struggle for the liberation of our Tamil Homeland is gaining momentum towards final victory. We have paid a very high price to redeem and maintain the Tamils' sovereignty over their homeland and the four courageous Sea Tigers have offered their lives for our cause. They shine as glorious examples for all of us dedicated to the liberation of our land, sea and the air," said Thamilini, Head of the Women political wing of the LTTE, speaking at the event.



Thamil Eelam Uprising assembly head Mr. Sanjay, Tamil Eelam Naval Force Administrative head Mr. Mohan and Mr. Pon. Thiyagam, officer in charge of Martyr Resting Home also spoke.

Sea Tiger Martyr Lt. Col. Anpu's mother unveiled the plaque on her daughter's tomb at the Mulliyawalai Martyrs Resting Home. Ms. Poorani, Head of Tamil Eelam Navy political wing, Commander Amuthab of the Charles Anthony Special Brigade and Village officers of Kokilai paid homage to Martyr Anpu.
