Four Tigers died in Jaffna - LTTE

The Liberation Tigers said in a press release issued by their International Secretariat in London that four of their fighters died in the attack in Jaffna yesterday morning.

The Press release said "LTTE forces today attacked a combined army-police complex in Sinakadai, and a chain of military checkpoints in Gurunagar, killing five Sri Lankan security personnel."

"The army-police complex and checkposts were brought under LTTE control, and arms and ammunitions in large scale were captured", the press release added.

Sri Lankan defence ministry said earlier 2 Sri Lankan Army soldiers and 9 Tigers were killed while five SLA soldiers, 2 civilians and 25 tigers were wounded in the attack.

The Sri Lankan government has imposed strict censorship on the reporting of military activity. This, combined with the ban on correspondents entering the war zone has made it impossible to independently verify events taking place there.
