Civilian killed in Batticaloa

A young family man was shot dead by the paramilitary cadres working with Sri Lanka Army (SLA) at 2 a.m. Monday in Kurinchi Nagar, Valaichchenai, about 3okm.northofBatticaloa, sources in the eastern town said..

Kanapathipillai Kamalanathan, 22, was sleeping at his home, when paramilitary men, took him away from his house and shot him dead at the near by Maruthanagar junction.

Valaichchenai Police is conducting investigations into the killing, the sources said.
