Mobilization campaign against Violence and War

A series of mass meetings and broad mobilisation of people against violence and war, to be organized by the National Anti-war Front (NAWF) , will be held from the August 17th to 21st September 2006, said NAWF Chairman, Dr Kumar Rupesinghe, in a memorandum circulated to the media in Colombo Thursday. A press conference to publicize this campaign labelled "All-Together," is being held Thursday at 3.30pm at Nippon Hotel, Slave Island, Colombo.
Excerpts from the press release follows: The mass mobilisation will be held in all districts culminating in a rally of over hundred thousand people on the 21st of September, the World Peace Day. The platform is composed
of political parties, trade unions, civil society organisations,
religious leaders and the business community. Members of different parties attending Thursdays meeting are:

- UNP - Rajitha Senarathne
- LSSP-Thissa Vitharana
- TNA - Raviraj
- Democratic Left Front - Vasudeva Nanayakara
- Left Front- Wickramabahu Karunarathne
- Western Peoples Front - Mano Ganeshan
In addition representatives of CP, CWC, Up-Country Peoples Front, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, SLMP, and
National Patriotic Party, and Trade Unions, Lawyers, Artists, Sri Lanka First, and NGOs, FCE, Religious Leaders, and members of various civil society movements, will be present at this meeting.
