Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) sources Friday said there were casualties, without specifying figures, in Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) bombing in Tharavai, northwest of Batticaloa. "The GoSL forces are attempting to open another front of offensive towards Batticaloa," said Director of LTTE's Peace Secretariat S. Puleedevan. He said the Tigers had called on the Norwegian facilitators and the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) to take "immediate steps to cease the Sri Lankan attacks that aimed to put CFA in jeopardy."
"It seems like Colombo is only interested in finding a military solution," Puleedevan said. Sri Lankan forces were pushing the Tigers "beyond the limits of tolerance," by launching a series of major attacks, Mr. Puleedevan said. Tigers did not provide casualty figures. Meanwhile, sources in Colombo said that the SLAF Kfir bombers had bombed a training camp of the Tigers in LTTE controlled territory in Batticaloa where Kfir bombs flew 6 sorties Friday afternoon. The Sri Lanka Army also suffered heavy casualties in Allai-Kantalai in a massive explosion that destroyed an Armoury.
