Four wounded in SLA shelling

District Medical Officer (DMO) in Kilinochchi has called ambulance personnel to report to work at Kilinochchi hospital after Sri Lanka Army opened up with heavy artillery bombardment against LTTE controlled Palai and Elephant Pass areas, Friday evening. Hospital sources in Kilinochchi said two children who were injured in the SLA shelling in Pallai were brought to the hospital Friday evening. A father and his son, from Sembiyanpatru in Vadamaradchi East were rushed to Kilinochchi hospital Friday night.
Navaratnam Sharmila, 11.
One of the injured child was identified as Navaratnam Sharmila,11. The other girl, who is 4 years, has identified her self as ‘Mini’. She was not able to tell her full name, the hospital officials said. Lawrance Mendis, 50, and his son Mendis Vimalraj, 15, were wounded at 10:30 p.m. in SLA shelling while they were fleeing their Chempiyanpatru village in Vadamaradchi East. Two others were earlier injured in a mororbicycle accident. A large number of people began moving towards kilinochchi from Thenmaradchi and Pachchilaipalli sectors of the peninsula.
