Two students shot and killed at Jaffna university

A final-year medical student and a passed out student awaiting convocation were gunned down by two unknown motorbike gunmen Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. near the University hostel inside the campus, Jaffna University sources said.

The victims, medical faculty final year student Sivasankar and Theepan, currently studying at the Technical College, were walking towards the student hostel when motorbike gunmen opened fire using an automatic rifle.

Mr. Kumaravel, the acting vice-chancellor of Jaffna University has contacted Jaffna Magistrate to order investigation into the killings.
