SLA denies medical treatment to Jaffna injured civilians

The Sri Lankan Army (SLA) blocked attempts by the Government Agent (GA) of Jaffna District, K.Ganesh, to transport injured civilians in Thenmaradchi and in the Islands to the hospitals, and remove the dead bodies from the area, Jaffna Secretariat sources said.
Thousands of civilians, trapped between the Forward Defense Line (FDL) of Nagar Kogil, Muhamalai and Kilaly area, and Kachchai, Kodikamam, Varani Road, who want move out of the area, admit the injured to the hospitals, and clear the body of the dead, are being blocked by thy SLA, civil sources said.
The GA approached the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC), Sri Lankan Red Cross Society (SLRCS), International Non Governmental Organizations (INGOs) and local NGOs in this regard but SLA has refused permission to enter saying the area is insecure and vulnerable.
Meanwhile, in the Jaffna islet villages of Mankumban, Allaippiddy and Mandaithivu a number of civilians injured are left with no medical treatment and as a result of continuous curfew.
Government Agent of Jaffna held discussions with representatives of the Non Governmental Organization in Jaffna, Tuesday, and discussed about the prevailing humanitarian situation in the peninsula. However, the details of the discussions are not known, TamilNet sources in the northern town said.
Sri Lanka Army announced over its radio broadcast from Palaly military base that curfew will not be relaxed in the peninsula, Wednesday.
