Tamil youth shot dead in Valaichchenai

Unknown gunmen Sunday night around 8:45 p.m. shot and killed a Tamil youth, Subramaniam Chelvakumar, 18, a day before his wedding was scheduled to take place, Police said.

Gunmen took the victim from his house in Vinayagapuram to Kalmadu Road, shot him dead and placed a note beside his body labelling him "traitor," according to the Police. "Ellalan Force" has claimed responsibility for the killing, Police said.

Police further said that the victim had been abducted last month and released later.

Chelvakumar's body was handed over to Valaichchenai hospital.
