Young man shot dead, 2 bodies recovered

A young man was shot dead by unidentified persons near Malu junction in Nelliyadi in Vadamaradchi, around 8:30 a.m., Thursday. Satchithanantham Sasitharan, 25, of Alvai South, was working in a fuel station. Meanwhile, two bodies in highly decomposed stage were found under a bridge in Velanai, islet off Jaffna town, police in Kaytes said.

They are believed to be of young men who were reported “missing” at the Human Rights Commission in Jaffna, last week.

The bodies have not yet been identified, the police said.
