Investigators began exhumation of bodies of seventeen aid workers of the Action Contre La Faim (ACF-Action against Hunger) who were killed in execution-style in Muttur. Two bodies were exhumed on the first day in the Trincomalee Hindu Cemetery in the presence of the Anuradhapura Additional Magistrate. ACF officials and relatives of those killed, legal sources said.

Of the seventeen Aid workers killed all but one, a muslim man, were Tamils.

Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) has accused the Sri Lanka Military for the 5th August massacre. Sri Lanka Government officials strongly denied that Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers were involved.

The remains of M.Ketheeswaran and M.Narmathan were transported to Colombo general hospital for further forensic examination, sources said.

Earlier Friday the Anuradhapura Additional Magistrate Mr.Jinasena allowed the application of the Criminal Department of Investigation (CID) of the Police with the consent of parents to exhume the bodies of M.Ketheeswaran and M.Narmathan, sources said.

On the direction of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC), the inquest proceeding into the killing of seventeen workers was transferred to Anuradhapura magistrate's court from the Muttur Magistrate's court.

Earlier the Muttur Magistrate held the inquest into these killings and was about to deliver his order on the killing when the JSC directed the transfer to Anuradhapura court, legal sources said.
