Two youths shot dead in Jaffna

Two Tamil civilians were shot dead in Jaffna district Sunday and Monday. In the first incident Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers took away a Tamil youth from his house and shot him dead in front of Kondavil Hindu Maha Vidiyalayam Sunday around 8.30 p.m., according to his relatives. In the second incident another civilian was shot dead by unidentified armed men Monday morning around 10 a.m. at Karaveddi.
The dead in the first incident was identified as Shanmuganathan Sureshkumar, aged 33, father of two. He was a TV technician by profession of K.K.S.Road, Kondavil West. His body was recovered Monday morning. In the second incident the dead was identified as Selvarajah Shanthakumar aged 25 of Karanavi East, Karaveddi. Unidentified gunmen took him out of his house to the lane near to a church located along Kodikamam-Arasady Road in Karaveddi and shot him. His body has been kept in Manthihai hospital in Point Pedro.
