Civilian shot dead in Thalavai, Batticaloa

A body of a young man with gunshot wounds was recovered from a garden in Thalavai region in the Eravur police division in Batticaloa on Friday around 7 a.m.

The deceased, identified as Kanesan Sathyan, 33, of Thalavai and a father of three children, had gone fishing on Thursday but had not returned home.

Relatives who went in search of Sathyan found his body with gunshot injuries in a garden in Thalavai. His body has been handed over to the Eravur hospital by the police, said civil sources.

Thalavai is located 18 km northwest of Batticaloa.
