Uyilankulam checkpoint opened for six hours Monday

The Uyilankulam entry point to Liberation Tigers held areas in the Mannar district was opened Monday for about six hours by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) with the facilitation of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) enabling civilians to travel to and from government and LTTE controlled territories.
The entry point was opened around 12 noon and closed by 6 p.m. the same day. This entry point will be opened on Friday again, Mannar district secretariat sources said However it was reported that less than hundred civilians travelled to and from government and LTTE controlled territories through Uyilankulam checkpoint. But no fuel, food and other essential items were not taken to and from both sides via Uyilankulam checkpoint.
