SLAF airman killed in Claymore ambush in Vavuniya

A Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) airman wounded in a Claymore ambush at Poovarasankulam, 16 km west of Mannar, around 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, succumbed to his wounds. Two fellow wounded airmen were transferred to Anuradhapura hospital. Sri Lankan forces in the area opened fire after the Claymore explosion, residents said.
The wounded were airlifted to Vavuniya and from there to Anuradhapura. The airman who succumbed to his wounds while being rushed to hospital was identified as S. Dharmasiri. Vavuniya District Judge Ilancheliyan Manickavasagar ordered the post-mortem.
