Five youths abducted in Batticaloa

Four teenagers including two 15-year-olds, and a 21-year-old youth were abducted allegedly by paramilitary cadres in separate locations in Eravur Police division of Batticaloa district, Police said Friday.
Gunmen riding in a van abducted Mahendrarajah Sasikumar, 15, in Chenkalady. Sasikumar, from Thevapuram Pillainathan Lane in Murakkoddanchenai, had come to Chenkaldy to take a photograph himself, Eravur Police said. 21-year-old Sachchithananthan Tharshanandan, who went to visit his elder sister in Thannamunai Armugathan Kudiyiruppu was also abducted, according to the complaints. Gunmen had come in three motorbikes and threatened Tharsanandan's sister and her family. In the second instance, around ten armed men riding in a van along the coastal village
Kaluwankerny abducted three teenagers, Amirthalingam Arasaratnam, 15,Velautham Vigneswaran, 18, and Selvarajah Navaratnam, 19 Friday around 9:00 a.m. The youths from Mariamman Kovil Lane were returning home after fishing. Chenkalady is located 15 km north of Batticaloa town, Arumugathan Kudiyiruppu, 13 km north and Kaluwankerny 17 km northeast of Batticaloa town.
