Rajapakse, Wickremasinghe to meet to finalise MoU

President Mahinda Rajapakse in the capacity of the leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), main constituent of the ruling United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe, leader of the main opposition United National Party (UNP) are scheduled to meet on Saturday or Sunday to finalise the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the basis for power-sharing, sources said.

The modalities of power-sharing between the SLFP and UNP are also to be finalised during the direct talks between President Mahinda Rajapakse and Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe, UNP sources said.

MoU relates to the co-operation in six identified issues under a Common National Agenda. The issues are peace process, electoral reforms, good governance, nation building, economic development and education.

The MoU is to be signed Monday (October 23).

The venue for the event is not decided yet.
