Tamil parliamentarian in Colombo faces death threats

Mano Ganesan, Western Province People's Front parliamentarian and an active member of the Civil Monitoring Committee on Abductions, Extrajudicial and Arbitrary Killings, Thursday said that he has been facing threat to his life. Mr. Mano Ganesan, is one of organisors of the monitoring committee, with the slain Jaffna district Tamil National Alliance parliamentarian Nadaraja Raviraj.
The WPPF leader who has been receiving death threats for some time since he organised the committee against the kidnappings and killings in Colombo and it's suburbs, said he was contacted by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Pujitha Jayasundara, confirming the validity of such threats for the first time. Mano Ganesan has sent a letter to the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse, who is also the Minister of Defence and Internal Security, urging him to provide enhanced personal security. The CMC is headed by Sirithunga Jayasooriya.
