Due to Sri Lanka Army (SLA) attacks on Vaharai area, 16 schools in Vaharai circuit of Kalkuda Educational Region in Batticaloa are unable to conduct their year-end examinations, affecting 5500 students, Vaharai Circuit Educational Director, N. Gunalingam, said.
Though year-end examinations were held Thursday in Kalkuda Educational Circuit schools, students in Vaharai Educational Circuit were prevented from sitting the examination because of the continuing SLA shell and artillery fire on Vaharai area, the director added.
